Oh what an honor. I know during all this covid yuck, friends and family are missing out on some very special moments with loved ones: new babies being born, friends wedding ceremonies, funerals etc. For some, they understand the world might be cancelled, but their love isn’t. My sweet neighbors Andrea and Dave found a creative way to tie the knot AND still have their guests come in the midst of social distancing.

They decided to host their own ceremony in their very backyard (aka about 4′ from my backyard). Andrea and her mom did their own flowers, they decorated their pavilion on their back patio, brought their big screen out, my husband helped them set up mics and streaming and they decided to get married with JUST their parents (and myself) and their other loved ones streamed live. It was so precious, so intimate, so calm, so personal and so them. Her father passed away so she decided to plant a tree where their alter would be. She got ready at her moms house.

Funny enough, my husband and the kids got home while their ceremony was happening so the kids stood in the window and watched. Neighbors even came out to their backyard to watch a minute. I felt so honored to be one of the few to see them start their marriage together.

Then a surprise drive by parade happened post ceremony, from their church family orchestrated by their pastor. Everyone was honking, they made signs and posters, people brought gifts while wearing their masks. It was a wonderful surprise to them. Our neighbors even came out to watch.

I’m so glad people are finding creative ways to be safe during this time and still celebrate their love. Thank you for letting me witness such a monumental day for you both. Congratulations to Andrea & Dave.
