Mr. & Mrs. Rachel & Johnny | Grand Lake, Colorado wedding June 8, 2017
We were at Indie Bridal last year, a smaller more intimate bridal show for creative people in the Kansas City and Denver areas. And I hear, “Oh you need to go talk to Jana!” Then I see two beaming smiles, a mom and daughter, excitedly approaching my table. “I’m getting married in Grand Lake,” Rachel (bride) said. Ahh, What a special place! This is too, where my husband Philip and I got married three years ago this July. And Rachel and Johnny were celebrating their summer wedding experience also in those Rocky Mountains we love so much. This couple immediately became so special to me. Not only because of the location of their choice, but because they are two of the neatest people with two very seriously amazing families! Their wedding week, we’ve been counting the day to get to spend with them. When you do destination weddings, you get a week of an experience with your guests, friends and family. It is the most magical thing. And to be surrounded with the moose, bears, bald eagles, little fox and critters you can see in the wild, along with that perfect June wedding in Colorado with chilly mornings and the perfect non-humidity temperatures in the afternoon. WHEW! You just can’t hardly beat that. Everyone has so much fun!
Not only was Grand Lake special because we shared the same mountain town location with this duo, but Rachel’s family grew up going to Grand Lake since grandma had a cabin there. Johnny on the other hand, grew up with his family just on the other side of the mountain in Estes Park for many summers of his childhood and young adult life as well. Ironic that these two had such a mountain in between them and the earth still aligned for their meet-cute, leaving the tallest drivable road in the world at 13,000+ feet connecting the two cities they grew up playing in. I could go into details for days. But my words can never represent their personalities and massive hearts like images can. What a week! If we could only make still the time we spent there with them! One of my favorite weddings in the books to date. Rachel, your glow and your love for others, that smile, and your silly and sweet personality is so magnetic. Johnny, your sincerity and leadership, your devotion and kindness is such a gem! Your families coming together are and will continue to be so powerful together. I’m so happy to be a part of the start of that in this way. To get to witness so much love as a unified family is really special! Congratulations to you both. I hope your honeymoon in Kauai was just as dreamy and that these images will be a great “WELCOME HOME” gift from us.
