November 8, 2016 // We all know they call Chicago the Windy City. However, this past Tuesday, it was as if a mini tornado was about to brew with rapid droppin temperatures from the time I landed at the airport, to the time their session had started. We attempted to start at the oh-so-beautiful view of the city, at Olive Park. But with waves crashing in as if they were expecting we were there to surf instead, hair pointing in all directions, and nose and fingers quickly turning pink because it was so cold, we took our session more into the city and spent some time walking around the Wrigley Bridge area and then off to of course, Nick’s favorite place, the Cubs playing field aka Wrigley Field. How cool is this, that the Cub’s just won the World Series just a few days ago? They had one of the largest human gatherings for an event in the world. It was fun to share in a glimpse of this excitement with them, since the Kansas City Royals took the crown at the World Series last year, and since Christi is originally from KC and now lives in Chicago where Nick has converted her to a semi-Cub’s fan. Another fabulous fact, Zobrist won a ring with the Royals last year where we celebrated at home, and now he’s up here in Chicago where they all love him just as much as us, as he took home another World Series ring AND an MVP title. I feel as if a little pieces of me and us here in KC won again this year since we rooted for him during the end of the season. We just might’ve heard fireworks go off here in KC after the Cub’s win this year!
Anyway, I hope I did Christi & Nick justice. They were just the most adorable two people together, so giggly and seriously the best hosts ever. I was so thankful to be with them during election day. We were all so distracted by our amazing trio date night together at a local Mexican restaurant and then of course, to their favorite ice cream place. Christi and I stayed up awhile cozy in blankets on the couch watching funny SNL skits and talking wedding. This part of my job, is my favorite. The fact that they let a perfect stranger fly to them, spend an evening in their home and their personal space, inviting me in like I was a long time friend, is just so rewarding and fun. Having that trust from them means the world to me both personally and professionally. I loved getting to know these two and to see their brand new home in Chicago, as if they’ve been there for years. So adorable! Enjoy your “Windy City” day in Chicago.
