more about me

World travelin’, sustainability guru, humanitarian, foster and adoptive mommin’, photographer, photobooth-er, educator, multiple hat wearing entrepreneur. This girl’s love language is hugs and her tank is filled by serving others. You can find her under a palm tree, on a mountain, renovating a vintage trailer/house or running through the sprinklers with her husband, two boys and three fur babies.

This couple.. man they have stories. I admire couples who enjoy the roses around them, who travel the world, experience new things,  love like there’s nothing else to do in the world, and laugh like kids together as if no one else is around. Maybe my zest for life always seems corny, but when I meet people who have something special together, full of energy, and all they have is incredible stories to tell and smiles on their faces no matter what they’re doing, it reminds me that there ARE people out there, living life.. positively. And loving every adventure along the way. And that kind of relationship is magnetic. For me at least.

Brooke and Enrico are those two that I want to be like. Brooke grew up here in the USA.. the good ole Midwest. Gladstone to be exact.. and Enrico in Rome, Italy. I will let Brooke tell the rest of her story. Don’t skip this part, because it is really fun learning how full of life they are. Here’s from Brooke:

“We both went to undergrad together in Florida and studied Marine Biology. We kept in touch sporadically for the next 8 or so years.  Via facebook, I saw we’d both be in London, him traveling from Rome and I from Hawaii on my way to S. Africa. We ended up agreeing to meet in Scotland (another of my layovers) and had drinks and dinner. A few weeks later, he came to visit me in Maui , where I was living, and during that trip joined me for a wedding in Kansas City, where I grew up. While in Maui, he was offered a consultancy in Mauritius, Africa. He left for his job and I went to visit a couple months later. We knew it was that forever kind of love and got married in Mauritius the last day I was there (late November). I returned to my life in Maui while he finished up his consultancy. My Christmas present that year was a ticket to Rome to see him and meet his family. The good byes were the worst. In March, I’d had enough and quit my job for a 3 month stay in Rome. Back and forth a few more times, I officially moved to Rome in September. We spent Dec – Feb. in Eritrea and then moved to New Zealand in late Feb. and have been there ever since.

Since our wedding was anything but formal (think Hawaiian shirts and tie-dye dress) we wanted to get some photos taken by a professional rather than our witnesses driver!!!

P.S. This is our first time together in KC as a married couple!”

And to beat that, this session was kind of their “proposal story/engagement session/wedding photos. And Brooke’s mom and dad came along to witness it all. So I hope you all enjoy this session on this incredibly warm summer evening.. because I know we did, spending time together, laughing mostly, and enjoying some delicious wine while watching the deer walk by like we weren’t in their way at all. I trully had a blast.

Thank you Brooke and Enrico for making me feel so special choosing me to capture all this for you on your little vacation home from New Zealand.

Have a wonderful life together where ever you are lead to be in the world.

Mom was cracking up behind me the whole time too.undefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedHe surprised her with a proposal. She, of course, said yesundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedTheir passports are very full. Yay! And now Brooke and Enrico are moving to the Philippines! World travelers for sure! Enrico got a job offer for an exciting venture with small-scale fisheries over there so I just wanted to update everyone on the awesomeness these two carry with their bubbly personalities. Safe travels you two!
